The Anthony Nolan Trust
Each year, over 27,000 adults and children throughout the UK are diagnosed with leukaemia. That’s one person every 21 seconds.
Often, the only long-term cure for leukaemia is a bone marrow transplant. Patients have to find someone willing to donate their bone marrow in order to survive. Naturally, many people initially turn to their families as potential donors. In a massive 70% of cases however they are unable to find a suitable related donor.
They therefore need to find a suitable stranger willing to selflessly save their life. Every year, through the provision of unrelated bone marrow donors The Anthony Nolan Trust directly saves the lives of over 450 men, women & children.
We would be extremely honoured for you to take on a running challenge and raise funds, and awareness, for The Anthony Nolan Trust.
In return, our expert running team will be on-hand to offer a first-class level of support, advice, and fundraising guidance, as well as extensive training programmes and everything else you need to ensure this is an experience you will never forget!
You will also receive an exclusive training t-shirt, running vest for the day, and cheering t-shirts for your friends and family, all courtesy of adidas!
Running for The Anthony Nolan Trust means that you will receive an unrivalled level of support, which includes: -
- Extensive training programmes for runners of all levels
- Fundraising pack, bursting with tips and advice to ensure you smash your targets!
- Online blogging where you can chat to other Anthony Nolan runners
- Running Buddies services to find a training partner in your area
- Online support site with everything you need to know about the wonderful world of running
- Exclusive Adidas running vest
- Fashionable Adidas t-shirts for your family and friends

Race For Life
Cancer Research UK's Race for Life 2009 is the UK's largest women only fundraising event where women everywhere are invited to do something amazing and come together to simply walk, jog or run 5k and raise money to help beat cancer. Last year, the Race for Life at Heaton Park raised £535,000 for vital research. Cancer Research UK funds many researchers in Manchester. Much of their work is taking place at the Paterson Institute for Cancer Research, (adjacent to The Christie) where scientists are leading ground-breaking studies into all aspects of cancer biology. This year we have a new event at Wythenshawe Park on Sunday 17th May, one at 11am and the other at 2.30pm, with a capacity of 2,000 in each race.
The Heaton Park event is on Sunday 21st June, again at 11am and 2.30pm. We are hoping to attract over 7,000 for the morning and 4,000 for the afternoon.
